Pride Parade in Durham Preview
While as a state, North Carolina’s view on same-sex marriage hasn’t been entirely positive, we have come a long way compared to how the issue was handled decades ago. Durham, however, contrasts from the rest of the state with how progressive most citizens are, rarely ever agreeing with any form of discrimination no matter a person’s race, gender, or sexual and romantic orientation. This is further supported by the pride parade held in Durham by the LGBTQ Center of Durham. This year, the event is going to be held on Saturday, September 28 from approximately 10 am to 10 pm at Duke University 1304 Campus Drive. The daytime activities will be on the Duke campus until 4pm while events at night will be at Durham Central Park, opening up at 5pm. So far, there are planned performances by DJ Gemynii, Loamlands, local drag performers, and many more during the night events! You can find the website for the parade at https://www.pridedurhamnc.org and the website for the LGBTQ Center of Durham at https://www.lgbtqcenterofdurham.org. All Early College students and staff are encouraged to attend if interested!
