“EVERYONE WAKE UP, SHE'S HERE! SHE'S GOING TO KILL US ALL! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE FAST!!!” Let's take this story back to like an hour or two ago when we first arrived at the campsite. Me, Brycen, and all our classmates were enjoying the bus ride here when suddenly the bus broke down. At that time we were already at the campsite, so we didn't need to worry about walking hours to get to it. When we had arrived it was already dark. Luckily we ate dinner on our way here, so all we had to do was set up the tents, get the fire going, and relax a bit before going to sleep. Thanks to Brycen it was really easy to set up the tents since he’s really strong and tall. Brycen is 6ft tall with skinny arms and legs, but broad shoulders. He is the captain of our school’s basketball team and is my best friend. He is one of the most beloved boys at our school and is likely to get a scholarship in athletics. He is also known for his short temper and a caring essence, and is also very indulgent as well. He is one of the types of guys that almost every girl dreams of. I don’t even understand how we became friends in the first place. I just remember sitting alone in the cafeteria reading my book when he abruptly addressed me saying that I fit the perfect stereotype for nerds/geeks, with the braces, glasses, and over-gelled hair. We were having a great time at the fire, telling ghost stories, eating s'mores, singing, and just reporting about our high school life. I was already very neurotic by all the ghost stories I heard, so to make things worse I had to go use the bathroom, me being the neat freak I am, I was super paranoid about this trip, and going to the bathroom makes it a HUNDRED times worse. But what can I do, this was all for a project grade, I had no alternative decision but to come on this trip and die because of a heart attack. Our project is supposed to be on how fear can overtake our emotions and mind, and can completely change us in a manner that no one can recognize us depending on what circumstances we are in. This location is in a forsaken area. It is said to be inhabited by a female ghost. I'm a know-it-all and to be frank I never really believed in stuff like this at all, but just considering what happened during this field trip makes me think otherwise. There are some unexplained things in this world which we can never understand or be able to comprehend. This trip was chosen by our teacher so we can have a fun and exciting experience and also be able to do our project in a fun way. Back to how I went to use the bathroom. I had started doing the deed behind a tree when suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder. I panicked and turned around overlooking what I was doing, and saw my best friend, Brycen, being soaked. I started shrieking like a girl thinking he was Slenderman who came to take me away. “Dude what's wrong with you!” yelled Brycen, his face burning bright red, looking like a hot stove. “S-sorry, y-you just gave me a scare, and I panicked!” I tried to explain myself as best as I could. “Hope that doesn't stain,” I laughed out as I tried to hide my embarrassment, but that didn't help at all as I remember his face getting redder by the second. “You think I'm keeping these shorts after what you did to them! Heck no!” Cried out Brycen seeing how his favorite shorts were drenched in human urine. He looked like he was about to explode. I tried to keep in my laughter after what just happened, knowing that will just anger him off even more. “Hey, Vasu, I have a question for you. Why in the world did you come and 'micturate' here when you could've used the bathroom right there,” He had asked me pointing at an old broken down toiletries, looking like it could be possessed. “Um...no way, am I going in there! It looks like it's plagued with rats and other disease-carrying animals!” I said as I receded away from it. And I was correct, just remembering how one of the doors was hanging on its hinges, developing rust all over itself as it grew older, while the whole building looks like the castle from Sleeping Beauty, having vines growing on it from its slumber of 100 years, except scarier and diminutive. “You’re such a scaredy cat……..hey what's up with that face?” he asked me as he started coming closer to see if I was all right. I wish I had said something then; if only I was in my right mind and was thinking logically. “N-nothing, let's just go back to the fire….” I said as I impulsively brushed his hand off of me. It wasn't just nothing, when I had looked at the toilet I thought I saw a skinny figure standing there with a white gown that brightly lit up because of the moon shining brightly on it. Now that I think about it, I remember Brycen having the same reaction I did when he had gotten off the bus. His face color was paler than usual and looked like he had seen a ghost, but when I had asked him if he was ok he just said that the bus ride made him sick and that was all. As we were heading back I remarked how the woods were thick and filled with enormous trees. The mist of the night fog made the woods look gray, while the light breeze of the summer cold was shadowing the trees and making them sway back and forth squeaking with every motion, and though the moon and the starry sky were shining brilliantly as the sun, they formed shadows that looked like spirits. It was a great setting for a horror story/movie. When we had arrived back at the campsite everyone had already headed to bed, which was understandable since we did have a tiring day. That’s where the problem began. I was being ignorant thinking they actually headed to bed early. I should have comprehended that it wasn’t anything close to that....they were all there....but I just couldn’t see them. They were all laughing and playing. I heard their voices but overlooked it. I'm so stupid!! I knew they were there....! I knew she was there! She was creating illusions! She made us come!!! She intended all of this!!! ...She knew this would happen!!! I'm sorry about that, but when you connect the pieces together they all make sense, she was someone I knew, someone I loved, someone who... never mind. Why don't we head back to what happened after I went to bed thinking everyone was already "asleep". I was feeling uncomfortable and nauseous, I felt like I was submerging in a wave of laughter, and not the good kind, the type where you are being laughed at. I was getting another migraine, and so I took my pills and fell right asleep. I saw my dad with a woman, they were resting under a tree. They were discussing how the woman wouldn't make it. I wasn't absolutely able to make out the features of her, but I could certainly tell she had a beautiful face. When I took a closer look at her she was holding a child, a child I recognize. She was holding...me. She was sobbing, holding me tightly like it was the last moment she would see me. My dad was embracing her and was assuring her that everything will work out. "Don't worry, we'll make it through this...all we need to do is stay here until it happens. Okay..." "But..what if…(sniff)...w-what if it doesn't happen, what if...I'm not able to tell him," the woman said as she looked lovingly with concerned tears coming down her soft rosy cheeks, her eyes wavering as she gazed down at me. “Don’t worry, we’ve already made it this far...right...we can make it till the end, so don’t worry. Just cherish this place as, how we first met." My dad stated as he cleared the tears falling from her eyes.
