As we all know, its after Halloween, the air is getting colder, and Thanksgiving has come and gone. However we never see any publicity for that holiday. As students we look forward to the long weekend and see it as a sign that the semester is ending. But other than that, we don’t see much surrounding the holiday, other than Christmas ads. We all see it in any department store we visit, Christmas decor and gift displays already set up. Is it a big deal? No, absolutely not. But is it early? Most of us enjoy December and see it as the holiday season, but it’s still November. Christmas is a big deal for us Americans, as about half of us celebrate the holiday and it is when the economy spikes around December. Kwanzaa and Hanukkah are also celebrated by many people. Here’s what ECHS students had to say after being asked:
- Do you celebrate Christmas?
- If so, do you celebrate it religiously or ceremoniously?
- If not, what do you celebrate?
- Do you think Christmas ads appear too early?
- How do you feel about Christmas Ads in November?
- Do you think other wintry holidays should be as publicized as Christmas?
- Do you like seeing Christmas ads around the time of the holiday?
- If so, which one(s)?
